In the city of Kokand, there is a great citadel known as the palace of the last ruler of the Kokand Khanate, Khudayar Khan. This palace was larger than all the previous palaces of the Kokand Khans. With an area of as much as 4 hectares, the palace was located on a three-meter platform. On the portal of the palace there is an inscription in Arabic: “The Great Said Muhammad Khudayar Khan”. There were 199 rooms in the palace, but the most luxurious was the throne room and the reception room. There was also a hall in which the khan judged his subjects.
